Weddings are a wonderful family occasion and when children are part of the day and celebrations the whole ceremony takes on an even more special and enchanted feeling. Today’s wedding was no exception – it was a very moving experience for all as each child had their own part to play in the wedding. As the bride and groom made their way down the aisle together they stopped to embrace and kiss each of their 3 children. As the time came to exchange rings it was the two younger children who stepped forward to offer up the rings while the eldest son read the family vows that the couple had written themselves and included in the ceremony. It was an extremely happy occasion – not just for the couple but for the whole extended family that had been wonderfully included in their special day.
For myself it is always a wonderful event to be involved in and to see the inclusion of all members of a family; it reminds everyone that each wedding is not just about the couple but is also about the joining of families.
The wedding was close to Rayong, at the Lomtalay Chalet Resort, a beachside venue some 3 hours from Bangkok. With frequent planes serving most parts of the country, it’s quite easy to fly around and I’m able to perform wedding ceremonies in quite distant places, and be back on Samui the same day or next. I’m always happy to see new parts of the country – this is an extraordinarily beautiful country. I’m very fortunate to be able to live here.
