When most people think about getting married in Thailand, they imagine months of planning, a beautiful resort, lots of guests and a long list of things to organise.
But that isn’t what every couple wants.
Sometimes you simply want to get married somewhere beautiful, with the two of you or a small number of family and friends, without turning it into a huge production.
And if you’re already in Thailand, or you’re going to be here soon, you may be wondering whether it’s possible to arrange a wedding without planning it six or twelve months in advance.
The answer is yes — depending on your date, location and what you have in mind, a simple wedding can sometimes be arranged relatively quickly.
A simple wedding still needs organising
One thing we would always say is that a simple wedding doesn’t mean an unplanned wedding.
You can’t simply turn up at a beach, put a few decorations down and get married.
There are usually people behind the scenes making sure everything is possible and that the day actually works.
Depending on where you’re getting married and how your ceremony is structured, there may be arrangements to make with the venue or location, along with suppliers for flowers, ceremony setup, photography and other elements you might want.
That’s where having someone local to organise things makes a difference.
You don’t necessarily need a large wedding team or a complicated production. But you do need someone who knows what needs to be arranged, who to contact and how to bring everything together.
What if we’re already in Thailand?
This is something we hear from couples who are travelling in Thailand.
Perhaps you’re already on Koh Samui and have started thinking, “Why don’t we just get married here?”
Or perhaps you’re planning your holiday and don’t want to spend the next year organising a wedding.
For a small, straightforward wedding, you may not need to.
We can look at your preferred date, the number of people attending and the type of ceremony you’re looking for, and then see what can realistically be arranged.
The important word is realistically.
We don’t promise that every date or every location will be available at short notice. Suppliers have their own schedules, and some locations require arrangements to be made in advance.
But if you’re flexible, a simple wedding can be much easier to organise than you might expect.
What does a simple Thailand beach wedding look like?
For some couples, it’s really about keeping things uncomplicated.
A beautiful beach, the people who matter to you, some flowers, a ceremony, a little time for photographs afterwards and then perhaps dinner together.
It doesn’t have to involve a huge stage, hundreds of guests or an elaborate reception.
Our simple beach wedding package starts from 39,500 THB and includes the essential arrangements for a small beach wedding, including a photography session.
For couples who want something even more intimate, we also offer island elopement options from 17,500 THB.
The final cost depends on what you want to include, of course. You can add things such as additional photography, flowers, styling, guests, food and other elements if you’d like to make the day bigger.
But you don’t have to start with a huge package.
You don’t have to organise everything yourself
This is probably the biggest advantage of using a local wedding planner.
Even a small wedding has quite a few moving parts.
Someone needs to organise the flowers. Someone needs to arrange the ceremony setup. Someone needs to coordinate the photographer. Someone needs to make sure everyone knows where they need to be and when.
And if you’re not familiar with Thailand, it isn’t always obvious who you need to contact or what arrangements need to be made for a particular location.
We take care of those details behind the scenes, so that your wedding can feel simple without actually being thrown together.
That’s an important difference.
Simple doesn’t mean unorganised.
So, how much planning do you really need?
That depends on the wedding you want.
A larger wedding with lots of guests, a reception, entertainment and multiple suppliers will naturally need more planning.
But if you’re looking for a small, relaxed wedding or elopement, you may not need months and months of preparation.
